Are you looking to motivate your current Year 9 pupils to take a language?
Routes into Languages are currently funding a round of talks to schools in the East Midlands. The talks stress the importance of learning a language to compete in today’s economic climate, the breadth of job opportunities available to linguists and other benefits which students often don’t consider when choosing their options.

These talks have been running for several years across the region. Examples of previous feedback include:

We were very impressed with the support in language recruitment you gave us last year, and we managed to get a Key Stage 4 class running in all four languages this year which was the first time in years

A lot of them said they would now seriously consider studying French next year as your talk made them realise how important and useful it could be……Stories like this one and the ones you told them make them realise how important languages are. It is also essential that they hear it from other people, not just their language teachers

Your talk has made a difference and several more students have asked to do a language next year. In fact the curriculum VP is looking at changing the option columns! So many thanks for your help in encouraging more students to continue their study of a language''

Talks generally last about ½ hour and are free of charge to schools in the East Midlands area.
If you would like to book one of these talks, please email or telephone Karen Illsley on 07853 1041420.
