Links into Languages West Midlands got off to a flying start in July with a workshop supported by the DCSF as part of CfBT/ ALL’s language specific support on the new secondary curriculum. The workshop was delivered by Kate Scappaticci a Regional Subject Advisor from ALL, who has also delivered a variety of training events throughout the country and has a breadth of teaching experience from KS2 to KS4.
More than thirty delegates from across the region and beyond attended the workshop which provided a useful insight into the next steps for the new curriculum as well as practical examples on how to make language learning more engaging. Feedback has been very positive and most reported that they were able to come away with lots of ideas such as film-making and using music to take back to the classroom and the concept of sharing resources will prove useful in the future especially in respect to the new curriculum. There was the also the opportunity to see how these ideas work in practice.
A follow up networking event is being planned for the Autumn along with a range of Links professional development core courses and regionally tailored courses designed to meet your needs so keep checking the West Midlands web pages for more information and to secure your place.
The notes from the workshop can be accessed here.
