Bursaries for Language Upskilling

Links into Languages East Midlands in partnership with Nottingham Trent University and the Nottingham Language Centre is offering nine bursaries to support the development of language competence for primary and secondary teachers in the East Midlands.

One bursary to study a language module in the University Language Programme will be available in each of the nine languages other than English, and will cover the full costs of the course and examination fees. The bursaries are therefore available in the following languages and stages subject to availability:

Arabic Levels 1-2
Chinese (Mandarin) Levels 1-4
Dutch Level 1
French Levels 1-6
German Levels 1-6
Italian Levels 1-5
Japanese Levels 1-3
Russian Level 1
Spanish Levels 1-6

Bursaries are available on a strictly first come first served basis, and are awarded solely on the basis of the existing provision of levels taught in the specific particular language. For further details, go to the NTU website.

To be eligible for a bursary:

• You must be a teacher working at a school in the East Midlands - either teaching languages in a secondary school or a primary teacher who is currently delivering languages or aspiring to deliver languages in their school. It is not necessary that you are currently teaching the language you wish to study through the bursary scheme
• You must be registered with Links into Languages
• You will be happy to offer feedback on the bursary scheme and the impact it has had on your professional development and practice within the classroom

For further details, or to apply for a bursary, please contact the Links into Languages East Midlands Regional Manager Clodagh Cooney on 0115 8484127 or via email.
