Since early February the primary teachers in Dudley have access to a primary languages resources bank through their learning platform. The purpose of the project is to provide teachers with a bank of ready-made resources, produced by Dudley teachers currently working in primary schools. The teachers can support each other by uploading and sharing material they have produced. Each material is checked by the interest group before going live, preventing duplication and any outdated material.
The portal contains folders for French, German, Spanish, Italian and Community languages. Each section will hold a document library of various schemes of work, worksheets, lesson plans, suggestions for activities, and more. Teachers will also have an easy access to the KS2 Framework. Future plans include embedding interactive CPD possibilities onto the platform.
Some of the topics included are alphabet, food, numbers, songs, hobbies, school and nationalities. The team behind the workspace are all Dudley teachers, lead by Martyn Orton, Director of Languages at Redhill School, A Specialist Language College. The work was initiated in September last year, and after 6 months of hard work, the Dudley teachers have access to a wealth of resources to support them in the delivery of primary languages.
