The first Links NE Primary Residential took place on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th February at the luxurious Slaley Hall in Northumberland. The 16 delegates were delighted to have the inspirational Fi Cotton deliver the Links P03 and P04 Primary modules over the course of the two days, in sumptuous surroundings with fabulous views over the dramatic Northumberland countryside. Teachers collaborated with their colleagues in whole group work, as well as splitting into smaller groups to work in private seating areas dotted around the hotel. The P03 core course content offered support on planning progression and transition within and across the key stages, whilst the P04 supported colleagues with ideas on how to embed the KS2 framework effectively.
During their stay, delegates had access to the spa and leisure facilities and enjoyed some excellent food, particularly at dinner on Friday evening which was in a private dining room, complete with moody lighting and dramatic candelabras. Dinner guests included Dr Liz Andersen, Head of the School of Modern Languages at Newcastle University who is also one of the Co-Directors of Links NE, and Tracy Lertoria, NE Regional Manager for Links. Delegates gave such glowing evaluations of the event that a second Primary Residential event has been planned for June. Please contact Links NE Regional Administrator, Jane Eggleston for details of the next residential or to make an early booking - the places are sure to go quickly.
