This session will give teachers the opportunity to explore how the intercultural understanding strand of the renewed Key Stage 3 framework can be used to create engaging, interesting and stimulating contexts for learning.
One of the issues relating to this strand is that teachers often think that use of English will be necessary. We will investigate ways of using the target language to lead learning in this strand and discuss how best to orchestrate discussions.
A step by step guide to creating a powerpoint presentation will be part of the session and we will look at a range of web-based resources that can help teachers by providing access to current, vibrant and real texts, images and media.
We will consider the yearly objectives of the intercultural understanding strand and share views on how progression in this strand can be planned for, supported, assessed and celebrated.
