This 9.00 - 3.30 pm session will allow participants to find out:
• how blogs and podcasts can provide students with a real audience
• how to get into the blogosphere to give pupils a reason for listening and speaking
• why writing a blog post is as easy as sending an email
• how blogging can support assessment for learning
• how to use mobile phones and the video function of a digital camera for peer assessment
• how to use podcasts for personalised and independent learning
• how to download foreign language recordings to mp3 players, mobile phones or computers for students to use away from the classroom
• how to use a class set of mp3 players as a portable digital language lab
• how podcasting can support learning across the curriculum (times tables, storytelling)
You will:
Joe Dale is a CILT language Teaching Adviser, an eTwinning Ambassador, former SSAT Languages Lead Practitioner, regular conference speaker and recognised expert on technology and language learning. He has appeared in the Education Guardian, helped to update the ICT elements of the QCA SoW for KS2 Primary French, written for the TES ICT blog and CILT 14-19 website and designed games for Heinemann's new course 'Expo'. Joe also starred on a Teachers TV programme recently and spoke about the Rose Review proposals on BBC Radio 4. His blog has been nominated for two Edublog Awards in the last two years. www.joedale.typepad.com
