Location: Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, Burdon Road
Event type: Conference
Wednesday 5 May 2010, 10am - 4pm
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to develop your skills and confidence in teaching 'All things Chinese', mingle with cultural and language experts, develop networking opportunities and gain practical teaching ideas.
The British Museum, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and Sunderland City Council are joining forces and would like to invite teachers from North East England to a free event delivered by keynote speakers and experts in Chinese language, culture and business.
Join us for a day of expert talks and panel discussions, networking opportunities and practical teaching ideas and resources to take away.
This event follows the signing last year of a friendship agreement between Sunderland and the Chinese city of Harbin. The agreement seeks to develop economic, educational and cultural benefits for both cities.
The programme includes:
• British Council: Developing international partnerships with schools in China (World Links Project)
• British Museum: China website resources and ways to link China into the new primary curriculum.
• Durham Oriental Museum and Tyne & Wear Archives and Museums: China collections and teaching resources for schools in the region.
• Community: Find out about your local Chinese community and North East business links with China.
• Schools: How are schools teaching the subject of China across the region?
The final date for bookings is Wednesday 28 April 2010.
China : Journey to the East is a British Museum touring exhibition, supported by BP, a CHINA NOW legacy project.
See the exhibition until 9 May 2010 at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens.
