Who should attend:
Subject leaders and classroom practitioners in middle and secondary schools, and others involved in the development of the languages curriculum in schools.
The workshop will provide practical examples and allow time for participants to share ideas and ask questions.
Session overview:
In this session we will look at what PLTS means for teachers of Modern Languages: what are the PLTS; what do they look like in the MFL classroom; how do we plan opportunities to deliver PLTS activities to our students?
The session will run from 1.30-4.00.
The trainer for this event is Sonya Grant.
Biography: Sonya Grant lives with her family in Leicester and currently teaches at Moat Community College, where she is also Head of Modern Languages.
Sonya has been involved in delivering two of the City's Strategic Learning Networks with a focus on Assessment for Learning and Intercultural Awareness and Understanding. She has also worked closely with teachers of Community Languages, helping to develop Schemes of Work in Supplementary Schools. In this capacity, she was involved in the national ‘Our Languages Project’ which was recently awarded the Threlford Cup by the Institute of Linguists.
Sonya has recently become a Regional Support Adviser for ALL for the East Midlands and enjoys sharing ideas with teachers who are embracing the new KS3 Programme of Study and Framework.
