Summary
The NVQ has proved to be a highly successful alternative to motivate and enthuse pupils, raise attainment and uptake at KS4.
This session will cover:
- The main features of the NVQ and why is it so successful
- Examples of how this flexible qualification can be delivered in schools
- The steps schools need to take to set up this pathway
- Best practices for making business languages fun and pupil friendly
- Details of NVQ linked funded work experience abroad for KS4 pupils
Delegates will take away a CD Rom of sample activities

Trainer
Juliet Park works as a Regional Advisor and Lead Practitioner for SSAT and regularly speaks at regional and national events, in particular on alternative qualifications and the new curriculum.She is also Director MFL at Yewlands, where she has tripled uptake and attainment through the NVQ pathway and through fully funded work experience trips abroad. Juliet supports teachers wishing to set up the NVQ with Assessor training. She regularly write case studies, has authored materials for CILT and is currently co-writing a new scheme of work for year 7s in line with the new curriculum and the new KS3 framework.
